Roy L. Austin

Roy L. Austin, born in Kingstown, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, in 1939, served as the U.S. ambassador to Trinidad, from 2001 to 2009. He was appointed to the position by President Bush, with whom he became close friends during their college years at Yale University. Previously, Austin held a faculty position at the Pennsylvania State University for three decades, serving as associate professor of sociology, justice, and African-American studies.
