Nariman Farvardin is the seventh president of the Stevens Institute of Technology, in New Jersey, where since 2011 he has been the driving force of an ambitious 10-year strategic plan and has bolstered fundraising to its highest level in history. Born in Tehran, Farvardin earned his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degrees from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. An accomplished researcher, he holds seven U.S. patents in data communication, image coding, and wireless communication, and is a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Before Stevens, Farvardin served at the University of Maryland for 27 years, rising to the position of senior vice president for academic affairs and provost. He was named a fellow of the National Academy of Inventors in 2013.
